The Royal Iris quilt is constructed using five distinct sections: Group J is comprised of (8) center diamonds; Groups K and L radiate out from the center star in two additional rounds of (8) star points each; Group N is a pieced medallion-style border that prepares the center star for the outer border; and Group D is a pieced and appliquéd medallion border added to the rounds to result in a 99″-square quilt. The quilt blocks were designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer.
