Such a Beautiful Tree
By
I bought the pattern for my daughter. Both of us quilt. She wanted to make a wall tree for a relative undergoing breast cancer treatment. She didn't have the energy to put up a real tree. Neither my daughter nor I have ever done paper piecing. Don't let that scare you off. She saved the paper for me to try and was able to adapt the process and make a beautiful tree. It was gorgeous. Don't think you have be experienced in paper piecing. If you have the pattern, you can use normal sewing. She sewed on a variety of Christmas colored buttons and printed some pictures from the recipient's facebook page and used them to make a few ornaments. If you can paper piece fine. If not you can still use this pattern. It makes an unbelievably beautiful tree. Unfortunately the recipient lives in Malibu, but is currently reported safe on face book. So glad she has this tree and is, so far, safe. You won't regret getting this pattern, even if you don't paper piece.

Tall Trim the Tree

I had originally ordered this pattern from another company, but it was "back-ordered" twice, ultimately making it impossible to receive the pattern and make the quilt before Christmas. I then found and ordered it from Sew Thankful, and had the pattern the next day! Will definitely consider ordering from Sew Thankful in the future!

The pattern itself is easy to follow, especially having done paper piecing projects previously. I used many more green and white fabrics than the pattern called for, as I had a lot in my stash from which to choose; I am very pleased with the result. (I'm sure the tree would also look very nice with the more limited number of fabrics called for in the pattern.)

I made my own "ornaments" using 25 different quilt blocks. The pattern suggested with the tree pattern only had six blocks, and I wanted more variety.

Stunning tree
By
I made both the tall and short trees for Christmas gifts. The recipients were thrilled. I was happy about how easy the paper came off. The directions were fairly easy to follow, there was one dimension on the tall tree that was incorrect. The red buttons are a great embellishment and my machine could sew them on. I would suggest you follow each cutting piece in order, check it off, then assemble that section in order. I used many choices of green with the darker values at the bottom. My choice for the skirt was decorative braid. Flying geese pieces were over the top!

Tall Trim the Tree Pattern

I am a veteran sewer (50 yrs) and I find the lack of basic instruction very defeating. The pattern has no cut out instructions such as add seam allowance or seam allowance is included. Nor are there any grain line indications which I do know will matter in the end. I could have replicated this pattern without purchase but choose to purchase so I could learn with instructions for cut out and assembly - presumed an experienced quilter.
