Tracy's Tumbleweed Travels--April 2, 2005

Have you ever watched a tumbleweed?  It travels whichever way the wind blows.  In keeping with that thought, this page will be a place to share some of my travels, none of which are planned because they happen spontaneously as the wind blows.

Saturday April 2, 2005 -- We're on a spontaneous drive toward Jemez Pueblo.  These are some of the sights we saw in the approx. 30 mile drive.  Clicking the image below will open a new window -- close the window to return to this page.

At last...on the road.  This is NM 550 going toward San Ysidro and Jemez Pueblo

Wow...the landscape has changed so much in just 15 minutes time!

A closer shot...the richness of color is incredible.

The other side of the road...

A rather large cactus begins to bloom.  This photo was taken later in the day, from Unser Road.  Notice the sky is much lighter and slighlty hazy.

A closer look of the other side of the road.

Interesting rock formations...can you see the two rocks that resemble funky carved heads.

This picture makes my heart want to sing. It makes me think of lazy days taking a long trailride on horseback...the smell of pinon and camp fire gatherings complete with old songs when the sun goes down.

This photo was taken much later in the day (after we had returned) along Unser Road, facing the Sandia Mountain...about 2 miles from NM550.

This photo was also taken much later in the day (after we had returned from the Jemez Pueblo area) along Unser Road, facing the north...about 1 mile from NM550. The land you see in the distance is Reservation Land belonging to the Santa Ana Pueblo.

Taken in the same area as the photo shown left.  This bush was very interesting to me.  You can see the green growing within the bottom of it.  Also notice the "hole" at the top of the pic...hmmm...for a snake, or perhaps a prairie dog, or ????  There were many of these holes around this area.

This photo was taken on Corrales Road, facing the Sandias near NM528 -- where Corrales kisses Rio Rancho.  Notice the tractor under the cottonwoods...out plowing while the weather was nice.
