Fiber Art For A Cause Postcards -- 2006

"Love YOU" features couched fibers outlining the heart and forming the words.  Fused snippets of fabric and thread form the heart which was cut out of the background fabric before fusing it to fast2fuse.  A tulle overlay and machine stitching with invisible thread secures the snippets as well as the couched fibers.  I used Monopoly and it worked great.  This was a joyful postcard project.  I love the brightly colored chunky fibers.

--------------

What is the color of my love for you?  Can you feel the vibrant beat of my heart?

I know I'm not easy to understand sometimes.  Some days I'm funny and some days I'm sad.  Some days you may think I'm completely mad.

But I always, always, ALWAYS love you.

"Substance"  features soldered, stitched & beaded 'Etal, couched fibers, and beaded hand quilting.  I used black Finca Perle 16 for the medium/large hand stitched quilting.  The edges of the piece are finished by hand couching chunky/fuzzy fibers on both the front and back of the piece.

--------------

"I've made a decision.  Is it the right one?  Can I stick with it?  Can I finish this job?  Do I have the substance to finish what I started?  Do I have the substance to learn from my experience?  Would I do this again? Do I have the substance to appreciate and remember what I have learned?"

"Awakening" features a button embellished yoyo, couched fibers and machine stitching.  The edges of the piece are finished by machine couching fibers.

--------------

"In the early hours of the morning I awake.  I smell the moisture in the air and hear the droplets of gentle rain falling on the window.  My body is warmed and electrified with each roll of thunder.  I swear that I can almost hear the plants in the garden growing.  My soul awakens with thanksgiving - life is good."
