Sew Thankful Office/Business Hours:  9AM - 5PM Mountain Time M-F, not including postal holidays and the Friday after Thanksgiving.  However, you may shop online ANYTIME!

Order Methods:  At this time, we are a family owned, "internet only" company.  In order to keep prices low and service efficient, we must automate.

  • In order to keep our prices and shipping rates as low as possible and our service as efficient as possible we are unable to take orders or credit card information over the phone.  
    • Orders must be placed online by the customer or submitted as an offline mail order. 
  • If you do not wish to put your credit card information online, you may choose to submit an offline mail order.

We seek to serve the most customers who enjoy doing business with us by continuing to offer great prices, low shipping costs and excellent service.  In order to accomplish this, we must automate wherever possible.  That means handling orders through the shopping cart and questions through email.  

Generally, we are very quick to answer email.  When emailing, please be certain you use a clear and applicable subject line for your email or it may appear as spam.  Also be certain to add us to your email address book and approved sender list so our email reply to you is not bounced back by your email service provider.

We can not be all things to all people.  We understand we are not the only business selling the products we stock and we may not be the best fit for consumers who are unwilling to order online using a credit card or PayPal. 

If you disagree with our prices, shipping rates /policies, order policies etc. we understand you may choose to shop elsewhere.  In that case, we absolutely wish you well.

Store Location:  Sew Thankful sells by internet only at this time.  Zoning laws do not permit local pick up or on-location shopping at this time.  Most local customers receive their orders the next business day after we ship it (note: we ship in-stock orders the next business day after they are placed online). 

Print Catalog: To keep our prices low, we are unable to offer a print catalog.  You are welcome to print out pages from the website to view at your leisure, but please keep in mind that all products, prices and offers are subject to change at any time without prior notice.

Solicitations:  
  • Sew Thankful Inc. does not participate in any pyramid schemes or chain mail solicitations.  Any and all such requests or solicitations to participate in said chain mail or pyramid scheme--whether they involve money, recipes, fabric squares, embellishments, etc.--sent to us will be discarded as trash.  
  • A solicitation containing any tangible items sent to us for any reason without our prior written request or consent, will NOT be returned.
  • Solicitations for donations to charities, guilds, events and the like are reviewed on an annual basis.  We communicate directly with those charities and organizations we decide to contribute to.  Unfortunately, time constraints do not permit us to communicate directly with every person or organization who makes a request as there are literally many thousands of requests every year.  
 
ONLINE Payment Methods: We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover or PayPal.  If you prefer not to pay by credit card or by PayPal online through our web shopping cart, please see "MANUAL/OFFLINE Snail Mail or Fax Orders" paragraph below.

MANUAL/OFFLINE Snail Mail or Fax Order Payment Methods:  We are an internet company.  We specialize in internet orders. Orders submitted online are automated and therefore receive the fastest and most cost effective processing. 

  • Because "offline" orders can not be "automated" they require more time and labor to process and therefore require a manual order processing fee.

Sales Tax:  Orders placed from or shipping to New Mexico destinations will be charged the current sales tax rate.  We collect and submit all applicable sales tax to the State of New Mexico Tax & Revenue Department, as required by law.

NOTE:  Once an order has shipped, it is not possible to add on to the order.  Further, if the "split-shipped" order has a backorder on it, no add-on will be permitted to be added to the backorder.  A new order must be placed for any new/add-on items not on the original order.

US Shipping/Handling (online orders ONLY): Shipping within the United States and APO addresses is calculated at the same rate and shown on the rate table below. That includes Hawaii and Alaska. We ship exclusively via USPS First Class and USPS Priority Mail.

International Shipping/Handling (online orders ONLY):  International shipping rates are shown on the rate table below.  International customers have the choice between International First Class (limited to packages weighing 64 ounces or less) and/or International Priority (where available, subject to USPS limitations).

Most in-stock orders ship the next business day after you place your order.  

Customer Question:  I don't think it will cost that much to mail my order. Why does shipping seem so expensive?  

Answer:  The IRS, the State Tax Office and State Labor Department treat us like a business because we are a business. Sew Thankful pays income taxes, wages, payroll taxes, sales taxes (where applicable) and performs all the requirements that legitimate businesses are required to perform. Therefore, we must treat our business accordingly.

  • Shipping is not just about postage rates.  Our shipping rates should (but rarely actually do) cover all costs associated with shipping an order, including but not limited to: postage, envelopes, boxes, packing materials, tape, labels, space to store all these shipping materials, equipment needed to process the package (scales, special software, dedicated printers, etc.), labor to process/package the order, and time/labor/fuel to get the package to the Post Office. 

Shipping rates are subject to change at any time without prior notice. *Certain over-size or bulky items may require an additional handling fee/surcharge.  This charge is in addition to the rates below.  Each item affected by this charge will have a notation in its product description area.

Exchanges, Returns, Claims & Refunds

Exchanges:
  • EXCEPT FOR EXACT SAME ITEM replacement/exchange  (i.e., in the event of a defective product or broken item where the exact item is requested for replacement), exchanges are not available.  
    • Customer may return qualifying merchandise at customer's expense for a refund of the purchase price of that item (original shipping costs are NOT refundable) and place a new order for alternative merchandise if desired.  
    • If an item is broken or defective, the item is to be returned to Sew Thankful at customer expense within 30 days of the date of purchase (subject to all return conditions stated above and below as applicable) and Sew Thankful will replace it with a new exact same new item or issue a refund for the product purchase price less any discounts or coupons applied at the time of purchase.  
    • If an exchange for a different item is requested, the original merchandise is to be returned at customer expense within 30 days of the date of purchase (subject to all the return conditions stated above and below as applicable).  An immediate refund (for the price of merchandise on the date of sale less any discounts or coupons applied at the time of purchase) will be issued to the credit card or paypal account used in the original transaction immediately after the merchandise is received back in new/un-used/re-saleable condition (exception:  defective merchandise) by Sew Thankful.  
    • An entirely new order must be placed by the customer for any different merchandise.

Returns:  Please inspect your order immediately upon receipt.  If your order is not received in satisfactory condition, we would like the opportunity to make it right for you. 

  • If a return or replacement is necessary, the CUSTOMER MUST CONTACT Sew Thankful by email to orders@sewthankful.com  TO RECEIVE AN AUTHORIZATION PRIOR TO RETURNING ANY MERCHANDISE FOR REFUND OR REPLACEMENT.  Merchandise returned to us without a prior authorization will be refused.  
  • If your package is received in damaged conditions from shipping, please notify us immediately (within 3 days of  receipt of the package).  
  • Refund requests are to be made within 30 days of the date of the order.  
  • Customer is required to return item(s) at customer expense and Sew Thankful must receive it in new, re-sellable condition prior to refund being issued.  
  • Unless an item is received by customer in damaged condition and reported to Sew Thankful immediately OR unless it has a manufacturer defect, it must be received back by Sew Thankful in new, unused and re-sellable condition in order to receive a full refund of the product purchase price.  
  • Sew Thankful is unable to be responsible for damage that may occur in return shipping.  We recommend customer insure the package for safe return.

Defective Item or Damaged Product:  Unless otherwise specified (for example, as with closeouts, discontinued items, etc. where no refunds or exchanges are permitted), we will happily refund your money in the event of defect or damage subject to the "claims" policy stated below and the 30 refund policy stated above.  Customer must return the damaged/defective item(s) in the condition received.  Shipping is not refundable, return shipping is always at customer expense.  Shipping for replacement item is covered by Sew Thankful ONLY when an exact same item replacement is requested (i.e., in the event of product defect but the exact same item/SKU is the replacement).  

EXCEPTIONS to the return policy (relating to un-damaged and non-defective items):  

  • Copyrighted items are NOT eligible for return or refund.  Due to copyright concerns we can not accept the return of copyrighted materials such as patterns, books, cds or dvds.  All sales on these items are final (except for damaged items). 
    • If you are planning to make finished items to sell from patterns, books, etc., you are responsible to contact the legal copyright holder for their permission (preferably before you purchase the pattern).  Sew Thankful can not grant permission for usage, resale, etc. that can only be legally provided by the copyright holder. If you need assistance contacting the copyright holder, email us and we will help you get in contact with the proper person. If you need more information on understanding copyright, click here.  
    • Please make your selections carefully and be aware of what you are ordering before you place your order. 
    • Some patterns, books and pattern-books may not include a paper template pattern to trace or cut out.  Some designers and authors only provide dimensions or measurements along with instructions for assembly and completion of the item.  If having a paper template pattern to trace or cut out is required for your satisfaction, PLEASE ask us to verify the item for you PRIOR to placing your order.  
    • Once copyrighted materials are shipped to the customer, they are not eligible for return or refund.
  • Closeout/clearance, temporary overstock, inventory reduction, and/or discontinued items are not eligible for return or refund.  All sales on these items are final.
  • Cut fabric yardage is NOT eligible for return or refund unless we made a mistake on your order.

SALES and discounts:  SALE prices and discounts are only valid during the actual SALE and discount period. As stated at the footer of each page of the SewThankful website, prices are subject to change at any time without prior notice.  Accordingly, we are unable to issue refunds or discounts on any items purchased and shipped prior to a sale start date or after a sale date closes.  If you order an item that goes on sale after your order is shipped, you are welcome to return it (in new, unopened and re-sellable condition) within 30 days of purchase for refund of the purchase price (shipping is not refundable).  Purchase of any new item at "sale" price must be handled as a new and separate transaction from any return/refund.

Claims for missing or wrong items: 
  • Customer is responsible to make a thorough inspection of order immediately upon receipt.  
  • ALL claims for wrong, missing, damaged/broken items MUST be made within 3 business days of receipt of the order.  Claims will not be considered valid after 3 business days of delivery/receipt of the order. 
  • All claims must be submitted in email format to orders@sewthankful.com .  
    • Make certain you have an appropriate subject line on your email AND reference your order/receipt number within the text of the email.
  • Upon SewThankful's receipt of your claim, SewThankful will immediately issue you an acknowledgement by reply email.  
    • If you do not receive an acknowledgement within 24 business hours (business hours are M - F 9AM - 5PM Mountain time) from the time you sent your email, your email was lost in space/not received and you need to re-submit the email.  
    • You may wish to double-confirm by telephone.  If so, leave a message regarding your claim at 505-896-2888. 
      • When you leave a message, you must include your order number, first and last name, order date and email address.
  • When making a claim for missing items, the customer must provide the order/receipt number.
Lost Items: Please notify us promptly if an order is not received in a timely manner.  We are unable to refund any order where a customer has not notified us of non-receipt within 30 days of the date the order was placed. 

If an item is lost in the mail due to an error on our part or on that of the United States Post Office, we will replace the item or refund the money paid.  For USA orders we must allow up to 14 business days (not including the date of mailing, weekends or holidays) for any "stray or temporarily misguided" package to materialize before we make a replacement or refund. For International orders we must allow up to 21 business days (not including the date of mailing, weekends or holidays) for any misdirected packages to surface before we make a replacement or refund.

Our system is automated:  The shipping label label will print out names and street addresses exactly as entered by the customer.  We are unable to replace or refund any lost orders or missing orders due to customer error.  Please be sure that all the information entered in the shipping address section of the shopping cart at check out is completely accurate.  

Refunds:  In all cases, eligible refunds will be made in the same format as the original payment was made and only to the person who made the original order.  This means credit card refunds will be issued to the same credit card used for the purchase.  Paypal refunds will be issued to the same PayPal account used to place the order.  Check refunds will be issued to orders paid by mailorder check or money order.

SewThankful reserves the right to change rates and/or policies in part or in whole at any time without prior notice.
