The bodysuit and merrywidow pattern is
designed for stretch knits only with 25% stretch across the grain, such as nylon
tricot, sheer LycraŽ, nylon sheer or stretch lace. The contrasting fabric is a
non-stretch lightweight woven fabric, such as non-stretch lace and sheers. They
have underwire bra cups with a contrast overlay on the front and the bra cups.
You can make self fabric shoulder straps or use purchased ready made straps.
There is elastic on the top edge of the back and all the outside edges are
finished with edging lace. View A ,bodysuit, has a lace ruffle on the front,
elastic on the back leg openings. The crotch can have an optional snap opening.
View B is a pull-over "merrywidow". It has elastic garters covered
with lace and the grips are covered with satin ribbon. For the garter
and handkerchief use lightweight fabrics. The garter has elastic and lace
trim. The outside edges of the handkerchief are finished with lace and the
corners are mitered. For the drawstring bag use light to heavyweight
fabric, it is lined.
